Imported dog pack again in Seklerburg (Kozán István | 2013.01.23)
A new pack of stray dogs frightens the citizens of Seklerburg. Some of those more then ten quite aggressive dogs are already caught by the skinners, but this method is far from the final solution for the dog-question.
In only one day more of our readers indicated, that in the center of Seklerburg dogs gathered in a pack frighten the passers-by. A quote from a reader: "In the Kossuth Lajos street, on tuesday, 14 stray dogs draw attention on themselves, barking at people, birds, everything. It seemed like they were released recently from somewhere. We ask the assigned to take action."
A mother who takes her child to the "Aranyalma" kindergarden was not concerned about the newcomers but the three burly dogs that bed around the kindergarden. "In the Venczel József street on tuesday six dogs trailed unto the Petőfi street, these animals seemed unknown" - another reader of ours draws our attention.
Ten dogs were already catched
Two dogcatchers of the regional waste management company Eco Csík catched ten already in to days. Due to our photograper colleague's experience the method they use seemed rudimentary: they needed help from a young man, who attracted the stray dogs with his own dog, then the dogcatchers' job was only applying the sling to their neck.
"It is sure that we are talking about a new transport, these dogs arrived the other day to the town. We know this because they were unknown for the skinners. By the way, we get complaints from citizens continuously." - says Pál Tamás, the manager of Eco Csík Kft in Seklerburg. Due to his estimations, there are at least 30 dogs only in the center, and in
the whole city, the double of it. "Our primary task is to catch those in the center then the rest can follow. Until March we would like to pick up all of them. We hope there will be no other transport until then" he remarked, and "if an article is born about stray dogs", he asked us to write, there should be a move in this issue. "This problem should be solved at county level. There should be made a register of all the dogs from the county, because it's no solution that our employees chase the animals that came from elsewhere or delivered." - Pál Tamás summed up.
More then 300 dogs at the shelter
Pál Tamás and Orendi Éva sugest exatly the same thing for the dog-question: the latter, the leader of the dog shelter at Taploca claims that the solution has to start at the root of the problem. "we should create a database, together with the mayor's offices, the veterinarians and the animal health office, in which every dog from Hargita county would figure. After that, we would need individual identification by microchips. If we cannot manage this, the whole dog-catching is a treadwheel, because there are always new ones coming " - summarized succint Orendi. She also knows about quadrupeds that came - or were brought to the town, which are transported to Taploca by the skinners after the capture.
Szőke Domokos: this is not a singular occurence
Though the dog-question is handled by the quoted Pál Tamás on the part of the mayor's office, we were curious of the vice-mayor, Szőke Domokos's opinion. "It's not a singular case that from time to time dogs gathered into packs appear in Seklerburg. Last time i think it was last summer i saw a group of stranger dogs on the Testvériség boulevard" - declared the vice-mayor of Seklerburg. He claims that among other things the question cannot be solved for good, because the fate of stray dogs is not arranged by law. "Since the captured animals cannot be put to sleep, therefor there can be some township leaders that have their ones captured and deliver them to another township and with that they think the problem is solved" - formulated Szőke quite generic, but still touching the spot.
